The Call...

Thursday, July 26, Jordan invited his friends and family in our home for the opening of his call.

Uncle Phil and Grandma Shell

While gathering, a large map was placed upon the ottoman.  Guests were invited to guess where Jordan would serve and mark it with their name on a sticky note.  We thought we would give a treat for whomever guessed his location correctly.

Zach was with us via Skype on the laptop to view the opening of Jordan's call.

What??

I think everyone was surprised!

Brad, Bonnie giving news to Gary on the phone, Anthony & Taylor

Richard and Tyler Saltmarsh, Rachel & friend

As you can see, Jordan's first wish was to go to Italy.  Of course, he understood that he would be happy wherever the Lord wanted him to serve.

Everyone raced to the map to see if anyone guessed Korea....

Nope.  Not a soul guessed Korea. The lone pin represents his actual call for Seoul, Korea.

Mom made sugar cookies while friends and family brought treats.

Congratulations, Jordan! He will leave for the MTC on October 31, 2012.

The Wait...

After submitting his papers, Jordan waited eagerly for his call, checking the mailbox daily for almost two weeks.

He knew that his call was "assigned" because his bishop told him that it was and to expect it to come in the mail shortly.

Typically, the calls are assigned on Wednesday and go out in the mail the next week.  But the following Tuesday was the 24th of July, a Utah holiday, which delayed his call.

On Thursday, July 26th, this is what he found in the mailbox...

The extra large, white envelope had arrived!

I wonder where I will serve??

Author's Notes:

Jordan asked me the day before he left for the MTC, if I would start a blog for him.  I will attempt to document Jordan's journey here as much as possible with photos, letters, and journaling.  Your comments are most welcome and will be shared with Jordan via emails and letters.

Upon the completion of his mission, it is my intent to publish this into a book and give it to Jordan.
